Nettle Meadow is a 50-acre farm, with all three major ruminants, in the southern Adirondack Mountains in New York State. The farm was founded in 1990, and is owned and operated by Lorraine Lambiase and Sheila Flanagan. Nettle Meadow is committed to animal welfare and even has an animal sanctuary for their older animals that are not suited for production anymore, They’ve also collected rescue animals that will live out their years on the farm. They started out with just goats. Now they milk about 100 at a time, and gradually added a few dozen sheep and then a handful of Jersey cows. Having all three animals right on the farm has enabled them to create some truly unique mixed-milk products, like their signature cheese Kunik, a goat/cow triple cream. Nettle Meadow also makes fresh cheeses, plain and flavored, and a couple other mold-ripened varieties.
